Balance and Dysbalance in the Martial Arts.
The human body is a complex interconnected system. Changes at one point directly affect the entire organism. A one-sided muscular weakness or shortening immediately leads to a corresponding asymmetric compensatory reaction throughout the entire body.
This dysbalance is usually compensated for through muscular strength training and stretching exercises. Muscularly, an apparent better balance is thus achieved.
However, the bones and especially the joints are not balanced equally in this way. Once the dysbalance has manifested itself in the joints, it can be compensated for with muscle training, but not sustainably corrected. The dysbalance is covered over muscularly, but remains.
Through one-sided muscular strengthening without accompanying correction of the supporting framework, an existing misalignment in the joints is often even intensified. This leads to one-sided acute injuries as well as to one-sided chronic overloading of joints, muscles, and other structures.
This is where Isogai comes in.
